Photo Albums] : [Missouriana] : [St. Louis, Missouri]: (ca. 1917-1918). Black paper photo abum bound by two large brass tacks. Approximately 11" x 7." 15 leaves holding 163 snapshots and cut photo scraps to rectos and versos. One partial leaf with 7 additional photos laid-in. Self-wrappers (original outer wrappers possibly perished). Mild handling wear. Generously notated. Overall good.

An original vernacular photo album documenting the college years of Urban J. Busiek (1895-1988). Images document his time on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis, where he played fotball, baseball, and ran track, capturing the environs of the City, friends, teammates, etc.... Busiek went on to a long career as a pediatrician in rural Greene County, Missouri (near Springfield) ; the first pediatrician in Greene County according to his 1988 obituary. And notably, the Urban Busiek State Forest outside of Springfield, which was donated by his son Paul, is named in his honor.

The album is generously notated, but, as far as we can tell, lacks anything explicitly tying it to Busiek and we've identified it as his album based on visual confirmation via a copy of the 1916 Wash U yearbook (THE HATCHET) where he is frequently and clearly pictured.
